Middle management and in some companies, all management know there are 2 ways of getting ahead and staying ahead. Perform excellence or hold everyone else down. It is much easier to hold that trouble maker, challenging, manager down than to perform excellence. Great article. Our middle management doesn’t hire very qualified candidates under the guise that they will move on. The one hired and promoted from within is the safe for the manager candidate and not the problem solver. Managers don’t have to have the answers. They only have to ask the right questions.
